Deus Ex Machina x Kansai Giant BMW RnineT

Returning collaborator/customer: Deus Ex Machina was building another BMW R nineT and I was happy to oblige when they called asking for my help.
Breaking new grounds with a cafe racer is no easy task and even if you do, they don't stay relevant for very long. With this in mind, we decided to go down the route of building a bike that could have rolled off the BMW showroom floor if you ticked the "cafe racer" options box when purchasing a brand new bike.
Although there are only a handful of stock parts left on this bike, to the naked eye, It's not as flashy as some of the other examples out there. This was achieved with hours and hours of fabrication work, all completed here in house at Kansai Giant. List of modifications are as follows:
  • Remove the tunnel from a stock Suzuki GS1100 fuel tank and fabricate a new piece to better fit the contour of the R nineT. Since the GS100 was a carbureted bike from the 80's, a fuel pump flange was machined and welded into the bottom of the tank. Tank badges delete as well as welding in a flush mount filler cap was also carried out to modernise the look.
  • Custom rear subframe and other frame modifications to the front half.
  • Custom stainless exhaust system with partial weld deletion with hidden baffles and sensor plugs.
  • Mounting and re-positioning of aftermarket and factory parts such as: oil cooler, ECU, ABS unit, brake callipers.
